The Electrical Transformer Coil Winder is responsible for but not limited to:

  • Wind layer distribution Coils up to 75KV
  • Transformer assembly experience
  • Perform complicated operations involving dismantling, rewinding, repairing, reassembling, testing, etc., on large or more complicated power transformers
  • Must possess a strong knowledge of operations such as inspection, testing, repair, investigation, and reporting on various types of transformers including both liquid filled and dry transformers
  • Must prepare coil data by dismantling and striping down in proper sequence, preparing sketches and/ or drawings, connection diagrams and making notes to identify part location, type of insulation, cable size, terminals etc.
  • Be familiar with and exercises good brazing and connection procedures including but not limited to end-to-end brazing, lap brazing, bundle brazing, crimping, tig welding, and applying insulation
  • Utilize test equipment and instruments required to perform preliminary, intermediate and final test

Successful candidates will have the following:

  • High school diploma or GED; certificate from a Technical School in a mechanical or electrical trade is a plus
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in winding transformer coils
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings / diagrams and specifications – (electrical, mechanical, and connection) Basic PC skills
  • Be willing to potentially work any shift with overtime
  • Regularly stand and work in one place for extended periods, have excellent finger dexterity, good hand/eye coordination, and good eyesight
  • Travel if necessary
